Tulsi Gabbard made news this week as she exited the Democrat Party- the party in which she once sought its presidential nomination. Of course, as we have been witnessing for a generation or more, it’s not people like her leaving the party, it’s rather the party leaving THEM. As Republicans, we should applaud people like her as it proves that not everyone that ISN’T a Republican is completely bonkers in going along with the modern Democrat Party’s extreme leftist, ant-family, anti-traditional values. Perhaps that will help draw them back from that abyss. “Oh but Doug,” you might ask, “why should we care about the Democrats? Let them fail and go away!” Of course I agree with that sentiment– but only to a point. The reality is that we live in a two-party system, and sometimes, Democrats ARE going to get elected and be in charge. All of us should hope that, when it does, whoever it is is not completely insane like the current crop we are stuck with.
Anyway, Tulsi is very much to me like an old-guard Democrat like Kennedy or Truman. She truly loves the country and isn’t some closet socialist commie. And that’s good. Good for her, and good for America. Why? Because she has a tremendous appeal that I think slices through some of the current political divides. One thing that makes here different from many politicians of the two political tribes is her antiwar stance. THAT is huge, and many of us are totally in tune with that sentiment. And she’s not like the 60’s hippies of yore that were anti-MILITARY. She actually understands that the way to PREVENT a legitimate war is to be so strong as to make our TRUE enemies not to MAKE war against us. This is actually strains of Reagan’s philosophy coupled with some Donald Trump. Basically standing down from being the world’s policeman and putting America’s interests first. I like that.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms”
Tulsi Gabbard
Yes, I know that she isn’t perfect in alignment with everything us conservatives care about. She IS, however, seemingly open-minded, and responsive to differing views. Based on following her for some time, I don’t think she’s into jamming her beliefs down people’s’ throats. Again- I like a “you do you, I’ll do me” kind of approach.
“We must be willing to fight for the right of all Americans to express their views, even when we disagree with them. Unfettered discussion of public issues is the heart of our democracy. We must take a stand to protect free speech without threat of punishment or cancellation.”
Tulsi Gabbard
And then there’s the current issue of transgenderism and its impact on females in general and within schools and school sports. I have to believe that most people do NOT support men competing in women’s sports, or boys using girls bathrooms and gym locker rooms, but, sadly, they are fearful to speak out, lest they get attacked for holding such thoughts. This can be said for many of our so-called Republican “leaders” and politicians as well. This is an area that Tulsi Gabbard has boldly addressed head on without mincing words.
“Those who deny the biological differences between a man and a woman are not only erasing women as a category of people, they’re denying the existence of objective reality, and the “truth” becomes whatever those in power want it to be.”
Tulsi Gabbard
This needs to be applauded and put forth as a great example for others to follow. Check out her recent remarks the Independent Women’s Forum 2022 in which she expands on those words and makes herself unambiguously clear:
OK- now ask yourself- is this not a well-spoken person? Does she not sound very sure of herself and confident in her words and beliefs? Can you take it a step further and perhaps even imagine her as a formidable candidate and becoming a leader? I know I can. To that end, I ask you to consider something I have thought about and even Tweeted for quite some time:

How about a “UNITY” presidential ticket?
DeSantis/Gabbard 2024
I truly think there is a VERY serious case to be made for this, as it might be exactly what this country needs right now.
Unity should be on more minds than just in the county. This is a great article, and I agree I am in love with the idea of a Desantis/Gabbard admin.
